ORANJESTAD — MEP parliamentary leader Evelyn Wever-Croes has criticized the government and Parliament for their lack of action in addressing tourism growth and the impact of overtourism on Aruba residents' quality of life.

According to Wever-Croes, the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) has also expressed concern about increasing visitor numbers and favors stabilizing tourism, with only limited room for further growth. However, not all tourism stakeholders share that position.

MEP is urging Parliament to expand discussions to include Aruba Airport Authority (AAA) and Aruba Ports Authority (APA), but the requested meetings have yet to be scheduled.  "We cannot continue talking about growth without asking how much more our island can handle," Wever-Croes stated.

MEP is calling for a clear strategy and concrete measures to develop higher-value tourism with less negative impact, while protecting residents' well-being.
