ORANJESTAD — The Ministry of Education, led by Minister Gerlien Croes, together with the Instituto Pedagogico Arubano (IPA) and Professor Joana Duarte of the University of Groningen, is organizing a multilingual education training week from October 19 to 22, 2026.

The initiative forms part of the Learning Cities program and marks the beginning of a multiyear effort to improve educational quality in Aruba.

Teachers and school administrators are receiving practical training in translanguaging, an approach that integrates Papiamento, Dutch, Spanish and English into classroom learning.

Workshops focus on vocabulary development, reading, mathematics and communication, encouraging educators to use students' existing language skills to improve learning outcomes.
