ORANJESTAD — AVP Member of Parliament John Hart is calling for a parliamentary debate on gradually raising Aruba's minimum wage to the minimum income needed to cover basic living expenses.
According to Hart, the current gap is approximately Afl. 700 per month, affecting an estimated 20,000 workers.
He emphasizes that wage increases should be accompanied by financial support measures for businesses to prevent excessive financial pressure on employers.
Hart is requesting clarity from the Minister of Labor regarding preparations, possible business compensation and necessary legislative changes. His objective is to ensure workers earn enough to live with dignity.
