ORANJESTAD — AVP parliamentarian Jennifer Arends-Reyes has called for youth crime prevention to be linked to education, sports and development opportunities. She raised the issue during a meeting at Aruba’s Parliament with a delegation from the Dutch House of Representatives’ Committee for Kingdom Relations.

Arends-Reyes stressed that young people continue to need guidance and structure after school, including when they enter secondary education. She said programs in a safe environment, led by trained professionals, can provide academic support, sports and creative activities.

She emphasized that investment in young people must include facilities, staff and suitable programs. The meeting also covered AIOF, the Landspakket, HOFA and other Kingdom affairs. Her central message: providing guidance and opportunities today contributes to Aruba’s future.
