ORANJESTAD — Aruba granted 259 permits to establish new businesses in the third quarter of 2026, up 22 from the same period in 2025. This represents an increase of approximately 9%, according to Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Geoffrey Wever.
The July–September result brings the total for the first nine months to 501 permits. Activities represented include real estate, construction, technical installations, retail and beauty services.
The Department of Economic Affairs received 579 applications of various types during the quarter. Of these, 156 were processed, 275 remained pending and 148 could not be processed because of missing documents or proof of payment. These figures cover more than new business applications.
Wever described the results as a sign of entrepreneurial initiative and confidence. However, the number of permits granted does not establish how many businesses began operating or how many jobs were created.
