ORANJESTAD — Aruba continues to position its tourism economy around higher-spending visitors, with a strong dependence on the U.S. market, upscale hospitality and premium accommodations. A recent regional analysis  in Travel & Tour World says the island recorded an 8.9% year-on-year increase in stay-over visitors in 2026, while average spending per stay-over visitor rose to approximately US$1,949.

According to the publication, roughly 75% of Aruba’s international visitors come from the United States. The same analysis states that tourism receipts account for more than 80% of Aruba’s total export revenues, underlining the sector’s critical importance to the national economy.

The strategy focuses on maximizing the economic value generated by each visitor, including through branded residences, luxury villas and other premium accommodations. The article says RevPAR — revenue per available room — exceeded US$400 during the high season.

The publication places Aruba alongside Curaçao, the Dominican Republic and Saint Lucia as Caribbean destinations seeking growth largely through higher-value tourism, investment and premium infrastructure.
