Kimberly’s family wants to know who was driving the UTV during the fatal crash in Aruba

ORANJESTAD — The family of Kimberly, the 23-year-old woman who died in a UTV crash in Aruba on September 13, is seeking witnesses to clarify the circumstances, particularly who was driving. According to an article by Erandi Godinez published on September 23, drawing on statements to Dutch newspaper AD, the family questions the account that Kimberly was behind the wheel.

Kimberly was visiting Aruba with her boyfriend before a planned trip to New York. A friend of her boyfriend, a military serviceman living in Aruba, was also in the vehicle. The UTV overturned, and Kimberly died at the scene.

Her cousin Stephanie told AD that Kimberly was cautious and found driving stressful. The family therefore wants independent confirmation of who was driving. They emphasize that they are seeking clarity, rather than someone to blame.

The family has issued a witness appeal on social media and is receiving assistance from lawyer Peter Schouten. According to the family, one witness reported seeing a man driving about 15 minutes before the crash. That account, however, does not establish who was driving when the accident occurred.

The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee has confirmed that it is investigating the circumstances because a military serviceman was involved. Investigators are in contact with the family and are asking witnesses to share their information with them as well.
