ORANJESTAD — The Oranjestad Investment Group says investors who have committed millions of florins to revitalize downtown Oranjestad are losing patience over the lack of concrete government decisions.

According to OIG, meetings have been held in recent months with the Minister of Economic Affairs, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Infrastructure. At different moments, announcements, meetings and solutions were promised within specific deadlines, but those deadlines passed without the expected action.

The group says investors have already bought properties, secured financing and developed projects, but some initiatives cannot move forward without clarity on procedures, regulations and development possibilities.

OIG warns that some investors are now questioning whether to keep waiting for Oranjestad or move their capital elsewhere.

While the group acknowledges the fiscal incentives introduced to encourage downtown investment, it says incentives alone are not enough without decisions, regulatory clarity and a clear implementation timetable.

OIG is calling on the government to provide concrete solutions in writing, convene the promised stakeholder meeting and act now.
