ORANJESTAD – An emergency medical evacuation carried out by the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard off the coast of Aruba has attracted international media attention. Several news outlets reported on the rescue of a 40-year-old cruise passenger who suffered a serious medical emergency while sailing north of the island.

According to the reports, the Coast Guard deployed a rescue helicopter to hoist the woman from the cruise ship before flying her to Queen Beatrix International Airport, where she was transferred to an awaiting ambulance for hospital treatment.
