Three Dutch tourists, local suspect arrested in cocaine mailing case in Curacao

WILLEMSTAD – Authorities in Curaçao have arrested three tourists from the Netherlands and one local suspect in connection with an investigation into drug shipments sent to the Netherlands through the postal system, the Public Prosecution Service has confirmed.

According to prosecutors, the Organized Crime Unit arrested the fourth suspect early Wednesday morning at a home in Dokterstuin. The individual is suspected of involvement in sending a drug package that was intercepted before reaching the Netherlands.

All four suspects are being prosecuted for allegedly shipping drugs from Curaçao to the Netherlands.

Local newspaper Vigilante reported that the three Dutch nationals traveled to Curaçao as tourists and mailed packages containing cocaine to the Netherlands. According to the newspaper, they had been recruited by a resident of Curaçao.

The report also stated that the packages were addressed to the suspects' home addresses in the Netherlands and each allegedly contained about five kilograms of cocaine. Vigilante further reported that some of the suspects identified the alleged organizer during police questioning.

The Public Prosecution Service confirmed the arrests and the investigation into drug trafficking through the postal system but has not confirmed the additional details reported by the newspaper. As a result, authorities have not officially disclosed how many packages were intercepted, the total amount of drugs involved or the precise role of the local suspect.
