ORANJESTAD – Volunteers from the Aruba Red Cross are playing a vital role in the international humanitarian response in Venezuela, where rescue teams from several countries continue to assist communities affected by the recent natural disaster.
The Aruban team is providing medical and logistical support to Search and Rescue teams from Costa Rica, Chile, the United States, Portugal, and other partner organizations operating in the disaster zone.
Their mission is focused on protecting the health and safety of rescue personnel working in extremely difficult and hazardous conditions as the search for survivors continues in collapsed buildings.
One of the most remarkable moments of the operation was the rescue of a survivor who had remained trapped beneath the rubble for more than 100 hours in Playa Grande. The successful rescue highlighted the determination and international cooperation of the emergency response teams.
According to the Aruba Red Cross, humanitarian work extends far beyond rescuing victims. Every successful rescue depends on a coordinated network of medical professionals, logistics personnel, and volunteers working together under challenging conditions.
The Aruba Red Cross expressed its deep appreciation for the dedication, professionalism, compassion, and perseverance demonstrated by its volunteers, reaffirming Aruba's commitment to supporting international humanitarian missions whenever they are needed most.
