Curaçao celebrates National Anthem and Flag Day with official Brionplein ceremony

WILLEMSTAD — Curaçao is celebrating National Anthem and Flag Day today, Thursday, July 2, with its annual official ceremony at Brionplein, bringing together government officials, students, youth organizations and members of the public to honor the island's national symbols.

The morning program begins with a performance by Axel & Friends, followed by the ceremonial arrival of invited guests, uniformed schoolchildren and youth groups, Governor of Curaçao and the flag detail.

The official flag-raising ceremony is followed by the singing of Curaçao's national anthem and a parade featuring participating schools and youth organizations, highlighting national pride and unity.

The celebration also includes official addresses and the presentation of the 2026 Cross of Merit, recognizing individuals for their outstanding service to the community. Young people will also showcase their talents during the "My Talent for My Country – Youth Voices 2026" presentation.
