ORANJESTAD/WILLEMSTAD – The reason why neighboring island Curacao does permit Venezuelan merchant boats but Aruba doesn’t, is simpel. According to information NoticiaCla gathered, the Curacao government last Wednesday approved the move to let these boats in, while the Aruba government is still waiting for details on how to handle the incoming Venezuelan merchants. Until this is clear and resolved, no Venezuela merchant boats are allowed to enter the Aruban waters. NoticiaCla was told this was purely a local island matter, for which Venezuela has no fault. Aruba prime minister Evelyn Wever Monday confirmed the restriction to NoticiaCla. Meanwhile Curacao has already received its first fruit merchant Venezuelan boat, and was expecting produce boats to arrive later this week. Photo courtesy Getty Images.
