Cicilia: AWE project connects young people with real opportunities
ORANJESTAD – Minister Wendrick Cicilia has presented the AWE project, an initiative aimed at empowering young people between 16 and 35 through education, personal development and professional preparation.
Under the slogan “Learn today, lead tomorrow,” the project will begin with a group of approximately 10 to 15 participants and offer practical workshops in areas such as barbering, bartending, customer service, acrylic nails and lash application.
Participants will also receive support in entrepreneurship, financial education, mentoring, coaching and career guidance. The goal is to help them enter the labor market, continue their education or eventually start their own business.
According to Cicilia, government should not wait for young people to come looking for opportunities, but should go directly into neighborhoods to identify talent and connect them with realistic paths for growth.
“Our young people have value. We must find them and connect them with opportunities that can help them grow personally and professionally,” the minister said.
