Respaldo secures land for new Mental Health Facility

ORANJESTAD – Fundacion Salud Mental Aruba Respaldo has reached an important milestone in plans for a new facility after DIP officially reserved a site in Kibaima for the project.

Respaldo Director Caroline Hart received the official letter from Minister of Infrastructure, Energy and Telecommunications Rene Herdé. The step follows collaboration with Minister of Public Health, Social Affairs, Elderly Care and Addiction Policy Mervin Wyatt-Ras.

The new building is expected to provide additional space to expand Respaldo’s capacity and allow the foundation to offer more and improved mental health services in a modern environment designed around care needs.

The project is being developed in cooperation with Fundacion Mama Ties, which Respaldo says is playing an essential role in making the new facility possible.

Minister Wyatt-Ras said the project is not only Respaldo’s dream, but a shared aspiration for a better future for mental health care in Aruba.

Respaldo will continue working with the government, Fundacion Mama Ties and other partners to strengthen and expand mental health services on the island.
