PALM BEACH – Vacation ownership remains a major pillar of Aruba’s tourism economy, generating an estimated US$750 million a year in direct and indirect economic activity.

The Aruba Vacation Ownership Longitudinal Report 2026, based on 1,481 completed surveys, shows that the sector now includes about 16 resorts and 3,500 units, representing more than US$2 billion in accumulated capital investment.

Its strongest asset is loyalty. Nearly 79% of owners have visited Aruba more than ten times, 94.5% intend to return within two years and 95.5% would recommend Aruba to others. Owners also stay an average of 13.7 nights and spend about US$2,100 per person, 48% more than in 2017.

The study also shows a clear shift toward owners viewing Aruba itself as their preferred destination rather than using timeshare mainly as part of an international exchange network.

The report does, however, warn about demographics. The average owner is 66.6 years old, creating a need to attract younger generations while preserving destination quality, safety, sustainability and more flexible ownership products.
