Herdé: Government and FCCA plan to build 300 homes in two years
ORANJESTAD – The government is negotiating with FCCA to make possible the construction of approximately 300 homes over the next two years, as one of the first concrete steps to address Aruba’s housing crisis.
Minister René Herdé revealed the plan during an interview with Tito Laclé on Noticiacla LIVE. The project is aimed, among others, at people who have sufficient income but are having difficulty entering the traditional housing system.
Herdé himself acknowledged that 300 homes are not enough compared with the existing demand. “It is a small beginning and it is not enough, but we have to start,” was the position the minister presented during the conversation. The plan forms part of a broader strategy combining FCCA, government land, bank participation and larger-scale housing projects.
