DVG promotes responsible pet ownership

ORANJESTAD – On International Dog Day, the Ministry of Health, Social Affairs, Elderly Care and Addiction Policy, together with DVG, is highlighting responsible pet ownership through the campaign No More Suffering, More Responsible Pet Owners.

The campaign focuses on animal welfare, preventing abandonment and improving community safety. Responsible owners are encouraged to provide veterinary care, vaccinations and, where appropriate, spaying or neutering to prevent unwanted breeding.

Pets should also have proper identification, preferably through a registered microchip with updated contact information. Owners are urged to keep their animals under control and never abandon them, helping reduce risks to other animals, the community and the environment.

The Ministry and DVG will continue sharing educational information and activities in the coming weeks to help reduce animal abandonment and suffering.
