Small plane crash in Peru kills 13, including European tourists

NAZCA, Peru – A small aircraft carrying tourists crashed in southwestern Peru, killing all 13 people on board, including 11 tourists and two pilots. Peruvian authorities said the tourists were from Italy, Germany and Spain. The aircraft went down near Nazca, a popular destination where visitors take sightseeing flights over the famous UNESCO-listed Nazca Lines.

The plane, operated by local airline Aerodiana, had departed from Pisco before rapidly losing altitude and crashing. It caught fire shortly after impact.

Peruvian aviation authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. Similar crashes have occurred in the area before, including one in 2022 that killed three Dutch tourists.
