King Willem-Alexander to celebrate King’s Day 2027 in Lelystad

THE HAGUE – King Willem-Alexander will celebrate King's Day 2027 in the city of Lelystad, in the province of Flevoland, on Tuesday, April 27, 2027. Members of the Royal Family will accompany the King during the national celebration, according to an official announcement from the Dutch Royal House.

The event will carry special significance, as both King Willem-Alexander and the city of Lelystad will celebrate their 60th anniversaries in 2027. The King, born in 1967, turns 60 next year, while Lelystad marks six decades since its first residents settled in the newly developed city.

The visit will also be historic for Flevoland. It will be the first time King Willem-Alexander celebrates King's Day in the province since becoming monarch in 2013. After the 2027 visit, Zeeland will remain the only Dutch province the King has yet to visit on King's Day.

Local authorities say preparations for the nationwide celebration will begin immediately, with the city planning to showcase its pioneering spirit, innovation, diversity and hospitality before millions of television viewers in the Netherlands and abroad.
