ORANJESTAD – The fact that the Aruba Parliament recently approved the Aruba government 2018 budget, doesn’t mean that Aruba is ‘out of the woods just yet’. Aruba approved the budget before the April 30th deadline as set by the Aruba financial supervision committee CAFT, but that does mean Aruba is no longer ‘in danger’ of getting an ‘instruction’ from the Dutch Government. CAFT confirmed Thursday to NoticiaCla that they indeed received the budget ‘in time’, on April 27th (Kings day) and have two weeks to scrutinize the content and give their comments after to the Aruba minister of finance. She then either adapts the budget (again) accordingly or just returns the budget, as is, after which CAFT makes its final ruling. If satisfied, only then can Aruba be ‘instruction free’.
