Plane crashes into New York's East River

NEW YORK - A Kodiak 100 seaplane made a hard landing in New York's East River on Sunday, with all eight people on board safely rescued, according to the New York Police Department.

Videos shared on social media showed several boats surrounding the aircraft, which appeared to remain largely intact while floating upright in the river.

The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) received the emergency call at approximately 12:01 p.m. local time after reports that the aircraft had made a hard landing north of the Williamsburg Bridge.

Emergency crews rescued all eight occupants from the plane. Police said several people suffered minor injuries, although no further details about their conditions have been released.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that one wing strut broke during the impact. The aircraft, a float-equipped Kodiak 100 built last year, was later towed to a nearby dock as authorities began their investigation into the incident.
