Minister Croes launches national AI strategy

ORANJESTAD – Aruba's Ministry of Kingdom Relations, Education, Youth, Innovation and Sports has begun the process of developing a National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy. The initiative follows Minister Gerlien Croes' participation in the Third Ministerial Summit on AI Ethics for Latin America and the Caribbean, held in the Dominican Republic.

The national strategy will align with the region's 2026-2027 roadmap and will be developed in partnership with government agencies, the private sector, UNESCO Aruba, the University of Aruba, IPA and other academic institutions.

According to the ministry, the plan will focus on integrating AI literacy into education, strengthening digital governance, protecting children and other vulnerable groups, and promoting digital innovation and infrastructure.

The initiative aims to prepare Aruba's education system and workforce for the digital era while positioning the island as a regional leader in the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence.
