Wever: Government subsidy helps lower fuel prices

ORANJESTAD – Finance Minister Geoffrey Wever announced that gasoline, diesel and kerosene prices will decrease on July 8, thanks to both lower international fuel prices and the temporary government subsidy introduced to protect consumers.

According to Wever, the government has decided to maintain 50% of the subsidy to continue supporting consumers' purchasing power, while falling global fuel prices also allow for adjustments to fuel excise taxes without increasing costs at the pump.

The minister said the decision reflects responsible financial management aimed at balancing consumer protection with the country's long-term fiscal sustainability. The government will continue monitoring international oil markets and adjust local fuel prices accordingly.
