ORANJESTAD – Aruba's AVP-FUTURO government will introduce a structural monitoring system beginning August 15, 2026, to ensure that supermarkets and distributors comply with the maximum prices established for products in the basic basket.
The Department of Economic Affairs, Trade and Industry (DEACI) will conduct both routine inspections and investigations based on consumer complaints. Businesses that fail to comply with the established price limits or do not clearly display prices may face administrative fines.
According to Minister Geoffrey Wever, the measure is intended to protect consumers and strengthen the purchasing power of Aruban families by promoting a more transparent and fair marketplace. The government emphasized that its primary objective is not to penalize businesses, but to ensure that price regulations are properly enforced for the benefit of all consumers.
