WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao — Curaçao became one of the Caribbean’s premier entertainment destinations in late May as the 2026 Soul Beach Music Festival attracted thousands of visitors for six days of concerts, comedy performances and beachfront celebrations.
Held from May 20 through May 25, the festival marked a historic milestone for the event. For the first time in its more than 20-year history, Curaçao served as the festival’s primary host, welcoming visitors from across the United States, the Caribbean and beyond.
Known for its unique blend of Dutch, Latin American and Caribbean influences, the island provided a vibrant backdrop for the annual gathering, which has long been recognized as one of the region’s leading cultural and entertainment events.
The festival featured performances by acclaimed comedians including Deon Cole, JJ Williamson and Chris Spencer, who headlined a series of comedy showcases throughout the week.
The centerpiece of the event came Saturday night with a major waterfront concert featuring performances by rising R&B artist Raey, legendary R&B group Jodeci and Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Babyface. For both Jodeci and Babyface, the appearance marked their first performances in Curaçao.
Beyond the headline acts, the festival offered a full schedule of daytime and nighttime events. Each day began with beach parties at popular venues including the Renaissance Wind Creek Curaçao Resort, Mambo Beach and Papagayo Beach. After sunset, the celebrations continued with sets from well-known DJs such as DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Trauma and DJ Outkast.
Organizers said the festival delivered a significant boost to the local economy, with thousands of visitors filling hotels, dining at restaurants and visiting attractions across the island. The influx of tourists provided a welcome surge in business activity for Curaçao’s hospitality and tourism sectors.
Mark Adkins, the chief executive of Soul Beach Music Festival, expressed optimism that the event will return to Curaçao in 2027, citing the island’s successful hosting of this year’s edition.
With its combination of world-class music, comedy and tourism experiences, Soul Beach Music Festival once again reinforced its reputation as one of the Caribbean’s largest cultural events. For Curaçao, the festival also served as a showcase of the island’s ability to host major international events and attract visitors from around the world.
