ORANJESTAD — The Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard carried out an emergency medical evacuation on Tuesday evening, October 27, after a 79-year-old American tourist suffered a heart attack aboard a cruise ship.
Because the vessel was sailing relatively far from Aruba, a helicopter was dispatched after consultation with CITRO Medical, which confirmed the urgency of the situation.
The helicopter crew successfully evacuated the passenger and the ship's doctor, transporting them to Aruba's international airport. An ambulance then transferred the patient to the hospital for urgent treatment.
