SAN NICOLAS — Police confiscated a firearm and scooter following a Sunday night pursuit of a suspect who managed to escape.
At approximately 8:35 p.m., police received a report of a suspicious scooter rider with a covered face in the De Vuyst neighborhood. Officers spotted a matching scooter near Lago Heights Supermarket, but the rider ignored orders to stop.
During the pursuit near Mount Scenerystraat and Ronde Klipweg, the suspect fell from the scooter and fled on foot, throwing a firearm into nearby vegetation.
