ORANJESTAD — The new Gateway 2030 facilities at Queen Beatrix International Airport are scheduled to open on December 15, according to current plans. Justice Minister Arthur Dowers inspected progress on Wednesday morning, focusing on border security and immigration controls.

The expansion is intended to accommodate a larger passenger flow. According to Dowers, this requires suitable infrastructure, technology and procedures so Immigration, Border Police and other authorities can carry out their duties effectively.

The minister emphasized that faster arrival and departure procedures must go hand in hand with effective controls and sustained cooperation between the responsible agencies.
