ORANJESTAD — Aruba's parliamentary factions MEP and FUTURO are seeking clarification from the Kingdom Government regarding proposed legislation intended to preserve existing regulations following amendments to the Kingdom Charter.

In a report adopted on October 7, MEP parliamentarian Edgard Vrolijk submitted 20 questions, seeking assurances that approving the legislation would neither restrict Aruba's autonomy nor establish a precedent for future consensus Kingdom laws, particularly those involving financial and administrative supervision.

While MEP recognizes the need to prevent a legal vacuum after December 31, 2026, it wants clarity on the legal, financial, and constitutional implications before determining its final position.

FUTURO submitted two questions focusing on guarantees that the legislation would create no new obligations for Aruba and would preserve regulations concerning maritime security, the Red Cross, and financing of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
