Public Prosecutor’s Office: Victim was driving UTV in fatal accident

ORANJESTAD — The investigation into the fatal UTV accident on September 13 indicates that the young woman who lost her life was driving the vehicle. According to Aruba’s Public Prosecutor’s Office, the findings available so far, including video footage, support this conclusion.

The clarification follows questions and suggestions in the media and from the family that the victim could not have been the driver.

The investigation was initially handled by the Aruba Police Force (KPA) and later transferred to the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (KMar), under the direction of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Technical examinations are ongoing, and the investigation has not yet been completed.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office said it is sharing this information because of public interest in the case, to clarify who was driving. It will make no further comment until the investigation is complete
