ORANJESTAD — As part of World Migratory Bird Day 2026, Aruba's Directorate of Nature and Environment (DNM) is encouraging residents to help protect migratory birds under the theme “Every Bird Counts – Your Observations Make a Difference.”

Aruba serves as an important resting and feeding stop for birds traveling thousands of kilometers. However, prolonged drought, habitat loss and pollution threaten their survival.

DNM recommends providing clean water without additives or food, keeping a safe distance from nests and avoiding vehicle traffic in sensitive natural areas.

Residents can record bird sightings through eBird, iNaturalist and ObsIdentify, helping researchers monitor migration patterns and protect Aruba's biodiversity.
