ORANJESTAD — A large WEB water pipe burst overnight near the former Royal Plaza area, sending a considerable amount of water onto L.G. Smith Boulevard and damaging part of the road surface.
Teams from WEB, DOW, Kimjen Construction VBA and the Aruba Police Force worked together to control the leak, repair the pipe and secure the area. Police temporarily diverted traffic to allow technical crews to work safely.
Justice Minister Arthur Dowers, who also visited the site, highlighted the importance of coordination between the different agencies to limit disruption on one of Aruba’s major traffic arteries.
Traffic returned to normal after 11 a.m., but work is not yet fully completed. The next phase, including resurfacing of the damaged section, is scheduled between early Saturday and Sunday morning.
