ORANJESTAD — Ombudsman Jurima Bryson has launched a formal and wide-ranging investigation into persistent complaints about odors and air quality in Parkietenbos and nearby areas, including Mahuma, Buena Vista, Simeon Antonio, Bucutiweg and Wayaca.

The investigation follows a complaint from an organization representing residents, together with concerns already known to the Ombudsman.

It will examine air quality, possible effects on health and living conditions, and how Government handled residents’ reports and complaints. Several ministries, AWSS, CMO, DNM and DVG have been formally contacted.

The Ombudsman has also opened a special OMBOX at www.ombudsman.aw where residents, businesses and organizations can submit experiences and relevant information.

Once the investigation is completed, a public report will be issued with findings, conclusions and, if necessary, recommendations.
