ORANJESTAD — Aruba’s Ministry of Education, Department of Education (DEA), and MAVO school leaders and teachers are taking part in consultations during September and October to review and align policy across the island’s MAVO schools.

According to information released by Minister Gerlien Croes, a central issue is the policy governing reassessment of student progression decisions in secondary education. The aim is to make these procedures transparent, fair and consistent across all MAVO schools.

The meetings also focus on strengthening the curriculum and preparing students for further education at EPI or HAVO, or entry into the labour market. Participants will also discuss everyday challenges facing schools and teachers, modern teaching methods and digitalization.

The consultations are part of Learning Cities Aruba – Growing Together. The announcement does not yet specify concrete changes or a date for introducing revised policy.
