ORANJESTAD — AVP parliamentarian Carlos Bermudez is calling for clarity and concrete solutions regarding the situation at Arubus, as well as the installation of bus shelters which, according to information he received, have already arrived in Aruba but have not yet been installed.
During the AVP parliamentary faction’s weekly press conference, Bermudez announced that he will follow up with Transport Minister Arthur Dowers on questions he previously submitted regarding Arubus. He has also requested that Arubus be invited to Parliament so lawmakers can receive direct information about the situation and the steps needed to reach a solution.
According to Bermudez, the problems at Arubus are not new and have been ongoing for several years. He said the previous government left a multimillion-florin debt outstanding with the company and stressed that discussions should not remain focused only on debt, but should lead to concrete action before the situation worsens.
The parliamentarian emphasized that the issue affects not only Arubus employees, but also everyone who depends on public transportation on a daily basis.
Bermudez also raised the issue of bus shelters. He said he wants clarity on why they have not yet been installed, particularly while some passengers are forced to wait for buses in the sun without adequate protection.
He said he will continue to follow both the Arubus situation and the installation of the bus shelters, with the goal of seeing concrete steps that improve conditions for employees and public transport users.
