ORANJESTAD — The cost of living in Aruba rose again during August 2026. According to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), prices increased by 0.5% compared with July, while annual inflation reached 2.7% compared with August 2025.

Eight of the 12 sectors measured by CBS recorded price increases during August. Transportation had the greatest impact, with an increase of 3.4% in just one month. Miscellaneous goods and services rose by 1.0%, while housing increased by 0.3%.

The increase in transportation costs was mainly related to expenses associated with the use of private vehicles, including the sharp rise in fuel prices.

On the other hand, communication recorded a decrease of 1.8%, mainly due to lower prices for telephone equipment.

CBS also indicated that average annual inflation increased to 1.0%, compared with 0.4% in the corresponding previous period.
