Savaneta Seafood Festival returns Sunday with focus on local fishing and economic opportunity

ORANJESTAD — The second edition of the Savaneta Seafood Festival will take place this Sunday, September 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., bringing together fishing, gastronomy, culture and community while providing a platform for local fishermen, producers and entrepreneurs.

Following its first edition in 2025, the Savaneta Prome Capital Foundation is organizing the event again in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs and the Primary Sector and several public and private partners.

Visitors can enjoy seafood, culinary preparations, live music, crafts and family activities. According to Minister Geoffrey Wever, the festival is part of a broader policy aimed at strengthening Aruba’s primary sector and creating more economic activity around fishing and local production.

Wever also highlighted investments in fishing piers in Savaneta and elsewhere, as well as the Piskechi Program, which teaches traditional fishing techniques to children and teenagers between the ages of 10 and 17.

According to the minister, the goal is for local fishing to generate opportunities beyond the catch itself, including in gastronomy, commerce and entrepreneurship. The government sees the primary sector as part of its broader effort to diversify the economy and strengthen local production.
