Over 7,000 tons exported to the ABC islands in 2026
CARACAS — More than 7,000 tons of products were exported from Venezuela to Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao between January and May 2026, according to the Chamber of Commerce of La Vela de Coro.
Chamber vice president Juan Gotopo said exports reached 7,046 tons during the first five months of the year. Since the port reopened in May 2023, a total of 34,661 tons of fruit and vegetables had been exported to the ABC islands by May 2026.
Plantains account for the largest share of exports at 34%, followed by coconuts at 10%, watermelon at 5%, avocado at 4% and papaya at 3%.
Gotopo also said the sector hopes Venezuelan Transport Ministry officials will soon resume technical inspections at the Port of Muaco, which has been deteriorating since 2017. Visits were halted following earthquakes in June, and the Chamber hopes restoration work can begin soon.
