Schiphol security staff announce industrial action

SCHIPHOL - Security staff from Securitas, I-SEC and Trigion at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport are preparing short work stoppages and work-to-rule actions after an ultimatum from unions CNV and FNV expired without a concrete response.

The unions are demanding better working conditions, including improved schedules, proper breaks and more certainty over days off. They say pressure on staff has increased since the number of security companies at Schiphol was reduced from five to three, while sickness absence remains high.

The first actions could take place later this month and will be announced only a few hours in advance. CNV says it remains open to talks, but strikes are not ruled out if no firm commitments are made.
