LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed Aruban catcher Chadwick Tromp to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The 31-year-old provides additional catching depth while the Dodgers deal with uncertainty surrounding injured players at the position. Tromp has appeared in parts of seven MLB seasons, primarily with the Giants, Braves and Orioles.

He owns a career .208 batting average with six home runs in 229 plate appearances. This season, Tromp hit .163 in 21 games between Atlanta and Baltimore. He is valued primarily for his defensive reliability and experience behind the plate.
