KRALENDIJK – Bonaire's Union Patriotiko Boneiriano (UPB) has officially announced that it no longer has confidence in the Movimiento Pueblo Boneiriano (MPB) and is immediately withdrawing its political support from its coalition partner.
In a letter signed by UPB faction leader Benito R. Dirksz and addressed to acting Government Commissioner Jeaninne Wong Loi Sing, the party states that the trust required to continue the political partnership with MPB no longer exists.
The letter says the decision was made on behalf of UPB faction members Pablo James Kroon and Simeona Chirino-Felida. The party has also requested a meeting with the acting Government Commissioner to discuss what it describes as a very unfortunate political situation.
The move places the future of Bonaire's governing coalition in doubt, as UPB's withdrawal of support could affect the coalition's majority in the Island Council.
