Court orders TUI to compensate passengers for delayed flight

WILLEMSTAD – A Dutch court has ruled that TUI must pay €300 each to three passengers after a flight from Curaçao and Bonaire arrived more than three hours late at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
The flight, which departed on July 6, 2023, travelled from Curaçao via Bonaire to Amsterdam and arrived 3 hours and 13 minutes behind schedule.
TUI argued that Storm Poly, which hit the Netherlands the previous day, caused the delay. However, the court found there was no direct connection between the storm and the delayed flight.
As a result, the airline must pay a total of €900 in compensation, plus statutory interest and more than €730 in legal costs. The court rejected an additional claim for debt collection expenses.
