Curaçao governor strengthens Kingdom ties during visit to the Netherlands

WILLEMSTAD / THE HAGUE – Curaçao Governor Mauritsz de Kort has concluded an official visit to the Netherlands aimed at strengthening cooperation and relations between Curaçao and the Netherlands within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

During the visit, Governor De Kort met with Prime Minister Rob Jetten and several Dutch cabinet ministers, including those responsible for Defense, Kingdom Relations, Foreign Affairs, and Justice and Security. Discussions focused on constitutional matters such as defense, judicial cooperation, foreign affairs and institutional collaboration.

The governor also participated in the 3G+ consultation with the governors of Aruba and Sint Maarten and State Secretary Eric van den Burg, where current Kingdom developments and shared challenges were discussed.

In addition, he visited the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), the Supreme Court, the Kingdom Affairs Foundation and The Hague University of Applied Sciences to discuss economic cooperation, entrepreneurship, education and the future of Kingdom relations.

The visit concluded with Governor De Kort attending the farewell ceremony of Thom de Graaf as Vice President of the Council of State, an event also attended by King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Princess Amalia.
